IPL: what it is and what the clinic uses it for

Intense pulsed light is used at the clinic for skin rejuvenation, hair removal and, with resurfacing, for acne.

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. Unlike a laser, which emits a single wavelength, IPL delivers a broader band of light in short pulses through a handpiece held against the skin.

The clinic uses two applicators. The SR applicator is used for skin rejuvenation, and together with nano-fractional resurfacing it forms the acne treatment. The HR applicator is used for hair removal.

Both are planned as a course rather than a single visit, and both are priced by area — small areas such as the lip or chin, through to large areas such as the back. The current prices for every area are listed on the treatment pages.

Whether IPL suits you depends on your skin and on your health history, which is exactly what the consultation is for. Some skin types and some medications make IPL unsuitable, and that is a conversation to have before booking a session, not after.
